cute kid overload

I know I said I'd update about cinco de mayo but i'm not. deal with it.

Today at the school, one girl in the morning and one girl in the afternoon remembered me from yesterday and sought me out today. They refused to leave my side. They were so loving and would not stop giving me hugs. I'm going to be bawling the last day when i have to leave them.

blog followers meet Elizabeth "Eliza" and Maria!

Eliza:

Eliza has really light eyes and is so pretty.

During workshop today I found out that she cant read or write. The kids were suppose to write their personal stories. They wrote about their lives and what they want to be. Instead she drew a picture of her going to school and I helped her write a few sentences with my limited Spanish.

She keeps writing our names all over everything tho.

Maria:

this girl will not leave my hip. she is beautiful too!

(she's the taller one)

she taught me the spanish word abrazo "hug". every two seconds she was giving me a hug.she didnt want to leave today.

there was also this little boy today who was wearing 5 pairs of socks!

i think his shoes were probably too big for him so thats why he was wearing so many socks.

we were told if you asked the kids what they wanted to be when they grew up a lot of them would say jobs like taxi drivers, but so many of them said doctors and lawyers. we were so excited about how smart and ambitious they are. I want them all to succeed so badly and it breaks my heart to think of all the obstacles they face to get there.

I am so happy I decided to come on this trip. these kids are so amazing and inspirational they are.

and since we all know i'm only really here for the food:
